Why Is It Important to Be a Military Friendly Employer?

At Open Sky, we strive to be a military friendly employer by providing a flexible and meaningful place of employment regardless of a family’s current military status.

Deployments and frequent moves make it difficult for military spouses to find employment or advance their careers. They face high unemployment rates and even higher rates of under employment. Military life is hard enough without worrying about finding and keeping a job. Military spouses deserve to have the opportunity to enjoy stable employment and pursue their careers.

At Open Sky Web Studio, we honor and appreciate those who serve in the US Military, which is why we are proud to support military families by providing jobs for military spouses. Our team is geographically-dispersed, which means we can retain team members and their talents no matter where the next PCS may take them.

Military life and deployments can be hard. Finding a company that supports military families shouldn’t be.

We are honored to come alongside Team Member Jessica and her family as her husband actively serves our country. We are grateful for Jessica and her family for their contributions and sacrifices that their family makes on a daily basis.

“When we moved to Jacksonville, I had to give up my job as Director of Marketing. I quickly learned that no one wanted to hire a military spouse – we move frequently and our schedules are too complicated. I spent over a year unemployed before signing up for a year of service as an AmeriCorps VISTA.

I had given up on pursuing a career in marketing when a friend sent me a post about a small web design company looking to grow their team. I decided to take a chance and submit my resume. That was nearly 5 years ago.

I am so grateful for the opportunity I was given when I was invited to join the team at Open Sky Web Studio.”
